Pakistan beat South Africa in 4th ODI

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq led his side to a three-wicket win over South Africa in the fourth one-dayer Thursday, setting up a series decider in the final match in Benoni on Sunday.

Misbah made 80 and Imran Farhat scored 93 as Pakistan chased down South Africa's total of 234 for nine with eight balls to spare.

Misbah and opening batsman Farhat shared a 153-run fourth wicket partnership help to reach the target.

Misbah-ul-Haq named for the Man of the match.

Pakistan 236 for 7 (Farhat 93, Misbah 80) beat South Africa 234 for 9 (De Villiers 75, Miller 67, Ajmal 3-42) by three wickets

Bairstow replace the injured kevin Pietersen for the final test

Jonny Bairstow will replace the injured Kevin Pietersen in the final Test against New Zealand at Eden Park, England captain Alastair Cook has confirmed.

England must go into the series decider without Pietersen, who is to fly home because of an injury in his right knee from which he will take at least six to eight weeks to recover.

“Kevin Pietersen is a great player, and will be missed. But it gives an opportunity to Jonny Bairstow coming in.” said Cook.

England must now hope that a best-case six-to-eight week recovery period - without surgery - will have Pietersen back in time for the Champions Trophy and Ashes beyond, and maybe even May’s return series at home to the Kiwis.

Kevin Pietersen ruled out of England's final test And IPL

Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the final Test against New Zealand at Eden Park and is also set to miss the IPL as he is set to miss eight weeks with a knee injury.

The 32-year-old has played through pain in his right knee since the warm-up match in Queenstown before the current Test series, which is tied at 0-0 after two drawn matches.

Pietersen will now return to London for "further investigations and specialist review" on "possible cartilage damage" although the ECB did not say whether he would undergo an operation.

"Recent scans confirm an injury to the right knee with bone bruising and possible cartilage damage to the kneecap.

He was due to take up his contract with the Delhi Daredevils on April 4 and would have played around five weeks in the IPL worth up to £1 million.

But now Pietersen faces surgery and will miss the entire IPL season.

India have a chance to get second spot in ICC Test Rankings

The Indian team is still in contention for the second spot in the ICC Test rankings after defeating Australia in the third Test to take a 3-0 lead in the four-match series.

India, along with Australia and England, still have a chance to finish behind South Africa on the Test table at the April 1 cut-off date and grab a prize purse of USD 350,000.

The battle for second place is heading for a close finish as number two England were held to a draw by New Zealand in Wellington leaving the series locked at 0-0.

While, in Mohali, fourth-placed India defeated Australia, who are ranked a place above, by seven wickets to take a 3-0 lead in the series.

With the Test Championship table to be updated only after the conclusion of the series, the three sides are separated by 13 ratings points with the final Tests in New Zealand and India scheduled to conclude on March 26.

India have already been assured of the number one spot in the ODI table and will receive the Shield as well as a cheque of USD 175,000 for finishing on top, the ICC said in a statement.

Dhawan ruled out of fourth test

India opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the fourth cricket test against Australia in Delhi.

Dhawan injured his finger attempting to field a Phil Hughes cut shot during Australia's second innings on the fourth day.

BCCI’s All India Senior Selection Committee had replaced Dhawan with Gautam Gambhir and brought in Suresh Raina to the squad for the fourth Test. However, Gambhir was diagnosed with jaundice after undergoing a blood test earlier Tuesday. He will not take part in the fourth match.

Ajinkya Rahane is most likely to replace Dhawan as an opener while Raina might have to sit out as a change is unlikely to be made in the middle-order.

Team squad for Fourth Test:
Manhendra Singh Dhoni (Captain), Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Suresh Raina, and Ishant Sharma.

Vijay moves to career-best ICC rankings

Courtesy his 153-run knock against Australia in the Mohali Test, India opener Murali Vijay has jumped 16 places to a career-best rank of 43 but Cheteshwar Pujara dropped out of the top 10 in the latest ICC rankings for Test batsmen.

Shikhar Dhawan, who hit a breathtaking 187 on debut to set up India’s six-wicket victory in Mohali, has entered the rankings in 61st position.

Virat Kohli also achieved his career-best rank of 20th, gaining four places.

Pujara, ranked 12th after sliding down two positions, and Kohli are the only Indian batsmen inside the top 20 as Sachin Tendulkar has lost two positions to be 21st.

Outside the top 20, the batsmen to move upwards include Australia’s David Warner in 29th (up by one), Ed Cowan in 38th (up by seven) and teammate Phil Hughes in 50th (up by four).

The batting table is still headed by South Africa’s Hashim Amla with teammate A.B. de Villiers in second place and West Indies’ Shivnarine Chanderpaul third.

Australia captain Michael Clarke is now fourth after dropping 21 rating points and two places following the Mohali Test.

In the player rankings for Test bowlers, India’s Ravindra Jadeja has moved to 35th place with a jump of six places.

R. Ashwin (8), Pragyan Ojha (9) and out-of-action Zaheer Khan (16) remain unchanged in the ranking chart.

The bowlers’ table is still headed by South Africa’s Dale Steyn with teammate Vernon Philander in second place and Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal third.

There is no change to the top three in the Reliance ICC player rankings for Test all-rounders with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan sitting in top spot, followed by South Africa’s Jacques Kallis in second place and India’s R. Ashwin sharing third place with Vernon Philander.
