Match 32: DD vs KXIP Match Preview 23rd April 2013

Delhi Daredevils are now looking dangerous after defeating Mumbai Indians with a huge margin of nine wickets and would like to do the same against Kings XI Punjab. Virender Sehwag and Mahela Jayawardene were absolutely fantabulous in the last match and would be raring to roar against the duo of Manpreet Gony and Praveen Kumar who have been brilliant so far. On the other hand, Mandeep Singh and David Miller, who played scintillating knocks of 77 and 80 runs respectively, would like to continue with their scintillating form.

Here we bring to you the players to watch out for between Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kings XI Punjab (KXI-P).

Delhi Daredevils (DD)

Virender Sehwag: Virender Sehwag is back in form and that too with a bang. The way he mercilessly hammered the Mumbai Indians bowlers in last match was something his fans were waiting for from quite a long time. His 95 runs knock was studded with 13 fours and two sixes and he is going to be the trump card for this exciting affair between DD and KXI-P.

Mahela Jayawardene: Jayawardene was just fantabulous in last match as he was scoring almost at the same pace as Sehwag and kept the score board ticking by getting those singles and odd-boundaries. His ability to galvanize his innings at his own pace makes him a class player and with a 59 run-knock in last match, he would be looking to continue that good run at the very same venue.

David Warner: Warner didn’t get much to contribute in the last much but he can be very useful if he comes out to bat at number three. He can be much more lethal as even one amongst Mahela or Sehwag departs, he would be having one of them who can allow him to take his chances.

Umesh Yadav: Yadav was brilliant with the ball and he ended up picking two wickets and somehow restricted the damage that was done by his fellows in the bowling department. He should try to bowl more Yorkers in death overs to make himself more effective.

Shahbaz Nadeem: Nadeem has been brilliant this season. If he doesn’t take wickets then he also ensures that he does not give away much runs and keep the opposition under some sorts of pressure. In last match, he gave away just 20 runs in his four overs and contained the batsmen with his magical spin bowling.

Kings XI Punjab (KXI-P)

David Hussey: Hussey has been in brilliant form this season and he might come up with one more knock of that class against Delhi Daredevils. He has that ability to mould himself according to the situation and get his team on a right track. He is the trumpcard for Kings XI Punjab in this contest.

David Miller: Miller smocked Pune Warriors India by smashing 80 runs off just 41 balls. His ability to go for those humongous sixes makes him a much needed player in the batting line-up. He can change the course of the game just like he did against PWI by scoring five fours and five sixes.

Mandeep Singh: Mandeep Singh played a glittering knock and went on to score 77 runs off 58 balls. He had display some great temperament by scoring some quick 40’s in this season of IPL. He just needs to be more consistent so that Adam Gilchrist can take off opposition from the very first over.

Manpreet Gony: Gony has developed a habit of picking up wickets in his opening overs by varying his pace coupled with those awkward short-off length deliveries. He looks much more unpredictable to any batsmen with his slower ones on bouncy tracks. His ability to smash the ball out of the park in death overs can also come handy.

Praveen Kumar: Praveen was not at his best in the last game and got smacked for 36 runs in his four overs but he would be looking for a strong comeback against Delhi Daredevils. His ability to tease the openers with his out-swinging deliveries will hold the key in this exciting encounter.
