Aaron Finch leads Melbourne Renegades to win

Melbourne Renegades 2 for 168 (Finch 111*) beat Melbourne Stars 5 for 167 (Wright 53, D Hussey 42) by eight wickets

Big Bash Twenty20 favourites the Melbourne Stars, led by Shane Warne, have been thrashed by eight wickets by the Melbourne Renegades in the season-opener at Etihad Stadium.

Warne's pre-tournament favourites batted first and made 5-167, led by England international Luke Wright's 53 and David Hussey's 42.

However the Renegades showed no respect to Warne, belting the 43-year-old legspin great for four sixes as they reached 2-168 with 10 deliveries to spare.

Renegades' skipper Aaron Finch hit a superb 111 not out from 65 deliveries with 12 fours and four sixes, in what rival coach Greg Shipperd described as an innings people will remember for a long time.
