India opt to bat against England in 3rd Test

India won the toss and elected to bat first against England in the third Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.

India have left out Harbhajan Singh to inlcude Ishant Sharma.

England have brought in Ian Bell and Steven Finn in place of Jonny Bairstow and Stuart Broad.

Alastair Cook said “We would have batted first as well but if we start well like how we did at Mumbai, we have a great chance.

“The morale is high after such a good win but that’s gone now. It’s a fresh start. Bell and Finn replace Bairstow and Broad.”

India MS Dhoni said “Looks like a good wicket. The first hour will help the pacers, not ony today but everyday because it’s winter now.

“We have to wait and see how it behaves, can’t tell for sure how the pitch will behave on this soil.

“We had a good break and we’re fresh now. Ishant in place of Harbhajan is the only change.”

England Alastair Cook(c), Nick Compton, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Samit Patel, Matt Prior(w), Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Steven Finn, Monty Panesar.

India Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha.
