Oct 22 2013: INDIA will tour South Africa, but only if Haroon Lorgat, the new CEO of Cricket South Africa (CSA) is on leave during the tour.
The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) do not want Lorgat to be in any way involved with the tour.
The preliminary tour programme of two warm-up matches, three Tests, seven one-day internationals (ODIs) and three T20 matches is also now limited to one warm-up, two Tests and three ODIs.
CSA’s estimated loss in broadcasting and other revenues amounts to about R200 million.
one of CSA’s main sponsors said if the tour did not go ahead it would be the biggest crisis for SA cricket since the country was kicked out of world cricket in 1970 because of apartheid. ESPNcricinfo.com reports that Srinivasan and CSA’s president Chris Nenzani had in principle agreed that the tour will go ahead, if CSA play by India’s rules.
An official announcement is expected soon after Sanjay Patel, secretary of the BCCI, submitted the proposed tour schedule to their working committee in Chennai on Saturday. The two Tests will be in Johannesburg and Durban.
