Watson flourish has England chasing 500 | 3rd Ashes Test Watson Century Highlights

Dec 16 2013: Shane Watson has smashed a 106-ball century before departing in bizarre circumstances for 103 on day four of the third Commonwealth Bank Ashes Test. Watson had resumed on his overnight score of 29 off 66 deliveries with Australia 3-235, an overall lead of 369. He went on to club 103 off 108 deliveries, top-edging a simple catch to cover which was dropped by England's Ian Bell with the score on 331.

Yet Watson had been ball-watching and failed to make his ground at the bowler's end, and was promptly run-out by the bowler, Tim Bresnan.

It was Watson's fourth century in 49 Tests. Watson has scored two hundreds in 2013, the first of which was in the dead-rubber fifth Ashes Test at The Oval in August.

No.6 George Bailey maintained the assault, smashing 28 from one James Anderson over, and finishing with an unbeaten 39 from 30 balls to allow captain Michael Clarke to declare with a lead of 503.Bailey’s effort off Anderson, which included three sixes, two fours and a two, equalled Brian Lara’s record for the most runs in a Test over. And with the first ball of England’s second innings, Australia paceman Ryan Harris struck with the first ball of the innings, bowling captain Alastair Cook for a golden duck.
